UK's Leicester Hospital Trust and Leicester University have developed an app containing all pregnancy information for South Asian women including Bangladesh. The app named
Janam was launched yesterday Thursday (October 12). The free
downloadable app is capable of providing all information related to pregnancy in six languages including Bengali.
The app have various audio and visual features that will help explain the disease and treatment process even with the help of pictures and videos, even if they are not proficient in English. The creators of the Janam app aim to help patients make informed decisions about their pregnancy, prenatal and postnatal care.
Noorjahan Islam Chowdhury, a Bangladeshi mother of four, praised the app, especially for South Asian women who are not proficient in English. 35-year-old Noorjahan told the media that the experience of using the app in Bengali is very comfortable.

Nurjahan says that with the launch of this app, she found solutions to many of his questions and concerns. Now, she is easily getting the information she needs in her mother tongue.
Co-creator of the app Professor Angie Doshani says, It is very useful for the well-being of South Asian mothers, including Bangladeshis, and their babies in Britain. Janam app empowers patients by empowering women with all useful information throughout their pregnancy, delivery and post delivery period.
Apart from English, the app also translates all features in Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali and Hindi.
