Londis employee arrested in Immigration raid

A supermarket employee was arrested by immigration officials and is currently in immigration detention. Immigration officers attended Londis, Swan Street, Kingsclere, at 10.20am on Wednesday.

Based on the findings, the officer visited the establishment under section 179 of the Licensing Act.

A man was arrested and is currently being held at the Immigration Bureau.
The Home Office served a civil penalty referral notice on the employer.

A Home Office spokesperson said: The Government is tackling illegal immigration and the harm it causes by deporting people who have no right to remain in the UK.

“We will continue to work with law enforcement to combat all forms of illegal immigration. Undeclared labor deceives honest workers and deprives them of employment,” he added.
