A total of 263 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants held in a detention center in the Libyan capital Tripoli will be deported to Bangladesh on December 5th. “Repatriation process of Bangladeshis who have been stranded in Libya is underway with the effort of Bangladesh foreign ministry and its mission in Tripoli with the financial support of IOM,” said foreign ministry’s alternative spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam at a briefing on Sunday. Previously, on November 28 and November 30, 143 and 110 Bangladeshis, respectively, had returned from Libya in a similar manner on a chartered Buraq Air flight. An illegal immigrant from Bangladesh was held in Tripoli's Ainjera detention center. In the name of IOM, he received Taka 5,896 as pocket money and food for all. The State Department's efforts to repatriate undocumented Bangladeshis from Libya will continue, Alam said.
