Pitha festival in the Emirates

The “Expatriate Pitha Festival” was held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in a grand manner. The pitha festival was held in the hall of the Bangladesh Association in Sharjah, Emirate from 3 pm to 10 pm on Sunday. In this, expatriates from different states of the Emirates came down.

This pitha festival is organized by the Emirates News Readers Forum to highlight the country’s traditions abroad. This festival is held in a festive atmosphere. A large crowd of women, men and children can be seen at the pitha festival from the afternoon.

Every table is filled with hot and cold hot cakes of different colors. Various designs are also decorated with pitha. Popular pitha prepared from different regions of Bangladesh is featured in this festival. Among the pithas were Dudh Chitai, Ras Manjuri, Jhal Patisapta, Khala Jhali Pitha, Coconut Nadu, Patisapta, Bashbosha Pitha, Vapa Pitha, Oil Pitha, Dim Poa Pitha, Puli Pitha, Coconut Pitha, Nonas Pitha, etc.

Bangladesh Consulate Dubai and Northern Emirates Consul General BM Jamal Hossain were the chief guests at the pitha festival. The special guest was Abida Hossain, President of Ladies Group of Bangladesh Consulate Dubai and Northern Emirates.

At the end of the festival, raffle draw and prizes were distributed among the winners of the competition. Bangladesh Press Club UAE General Secretary Kamrul Hasan Jony, Bangladesh Association Dubai President Professor Abdus Sabur, Emirates News Readers Forum Advisor Kamal Hossain Sumon, Emirates News Portal Editor Ismail, Press Club UAE Joint Editor Modachher Shah, Member Jasedul Islam were present.

The organizers expressed their satisfaction to create the atmosphere of the native pitha festival on foreign soil. Many contestants are seen elated as they get to compete in the pitha festival. Bangladesh became a day for everyone around this festival.
