In an attempt to shield herself and her family from a prostitution ring, a 17-year-old girl abducted a 4-year-old boy. She was apprehended by the Mandapa police in Mumbai.
After the case was looked into, it was discovered that the girl's father had allegedly sold her into prostitution, along with her mother and aunt. The girl was originally from Bangladesh.
According to a Times of India report, the child’s father had brought them to Dombivli under the guise of providing a job in a garment factory and forced them into prostitution.
Police sources said that a complaint was lodged on Friday night at the Manpada police station by a 27-year-old man from Khoni area of Dombivli (East) about his 4-year-old child being kidnapped by a woman.
The investigation revealed that the woman was taking the child towards the Bhiwandi bus stop and when the police shared this information with the Bhiwandi Crime Branch the child was rescued safely along with the woman from the bus depot.
Upon further probe, the Bhiwandi Crime Branch found that she was a minor and she revealed that she had kidnapped the child so that she could save her mother and aunt from the child’s father.
