Local authorities at Senegal's Blaise Diagne International Airport have reported that a Boeing 737-300 crashed on takeoff.

According to a statement from Senegal's Ministry of Infrastructure, Land and Aviation in French, Transair's Air Senegal aircraft HC301 "overran the runway" on Thursday morning at around 1:14 a.m.

The aircraft was carrying 78 people, including two pilots and four cabin crew members, according to the government.

According to the Senegalese military, four out of the eleven injured people were in critical condition.

Videos on the internet appeared to show a Transair aircraft, registered 6V-AJE, parked on a grassy bank. There appears to be damage to the left engine of the aircraft, and there was a lot of Aqueous Film Forming Foam on the grass beside the runway.

Blaise Diagne is the main airport that serves Senegal's capital city of Dakar. The intended venue for the battle was Bamako, Mali.

The incident led to the airport's closure for a number of hours.
