Seoul Restarts Anti-Pyongyang Broadcasts Over Trash Balloons
South Korea has announced that it will resume anti-North Korean propaganda loudspeaker broadcasts in border areas in reaction to North Korea's ongoing activities using balloons to drop rubbish on the South.
The South Korean presidential office announced during a national security summit that the loudspeakers will be placed and that broadcasts in border areas will start on Sunday. North Korea will undoubtedly be incensed by the action and may decide to launch its own military counteroffensive.
Only a few days after South Korean activists launched their own balloons to disperse propaganda materials in the North, North Korea launched hundreds of trash-carrying balloons into South Korea this past weekend, marking the country's third such operation since late May, according to the South Korean military.
