The European Union's authorities have announced that they are developing the ETIAS mobile app, with less than a year to go until it becomes mandatory for visitors from nations without visas to obtain an entry authorization through the ETIAS scheme.

The app, which will allow visitors from outside to apply for their European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), will be accessible on both the iOS and Android operating systems and in all of the Member States' official languages.

According to the Communication Department of the eu-LISA, the EU Agency for the operational management of large-scale systems like ETIAS, the app will not utilize biometric data for identity verification, while revealing further details related to it.

2FA shall be implemented in accordance with the ETIAS regulation and secondary legal texts. A combination of other targeted security measures shall be put in place as part of the ETIAS system implementation.

The same have also confirmed for Schengen.News that travellers from visa-free countries will be able to pay the ETIAS fee through the app, which payment methods are currently under finalization.
