Tulip Siddique and Roshanara Ali are the first Bengalis of Bangladeshi descent to get a place in the British government. 

Newham Council's Civic Mayor Rahima Rahman and Councillor Mujibur Rahman Jaseem said it is a truly proud moment for the British Bangladeshi community, as two British Bangladeshi MPs have been appointed to the UK Cabinet for the first time in history. Their dedication and hard work in the mainstream of politics are an inspiration to us all. 

"Let's celebrate this milestone and show our support for Tulip Siddique and Rushnara Ali. Indian and Pakistani communities have long been ministered to in Britain. Getting a place in the cabinet of Rushnara Ali and Tulip Siddique is undoubtedly the biggest achievement for Bangladeshis in Britain." said Croydon Council Labour Group Leader and Councillor Mohammed Islam. 

The leaders of the Conservative Party of Bangladeshi origin also congratulated Tulip and Rushnara. Dewan Mahdi, former chairman of the Conservative Party of Dagenham and Raynham, said, "I am personally happy, excited, and proud to see two MPs of Bangladeshi origin, Tulip Siddique and Rushanara Ali, in the cabinet of the British government."

Journalist Fakrul Islam Kosru said, "The day is not far away when we will see the London Mayor and Prime Minister of Bangladeshi origin." From small hopes, from small dreams, hope comes true, sometimes late, sometimes early. We are counting the days in that hope. I want to see Bangladeshi politicians in the high seat of British politics in the future.  We are hopeful that, like Rupa Haque, the four-time MP Rupa Haque, who came to politics from university teaching, will also get a place in the cabinet in the future.
