The US Embassy in Dhaka has advised US citizens to be cautious in the movement of students demanding reform of quota system in government jobs. At the same time, it has been announced that the embassy will be closed for the general public on Thursday.

These announcements were made in a warning message on the website of the US Embassy on Wednesday. The message was also published on the website of the embassy at night.

In the warning message, the quota reform movement has spread further in the last few days. Violent clashes have occurred in Dhaka, its surrounding areas and other cities. A few people were killed and hundreds were injured across the country. Movement within the country may be affected due to this movement. It may become difficult to come and go to Dhaka.

The embassy warned US citizens in Bangladesh that US citizens should exercise caution when traveling, especially in public university areas. Also, avoid gatherings and be careful around large gatherings.

The US embassy will be closed to the general public on Thursday (July 18), according to the embassy closure notice. Embassy officials have been advised to limit movement within diplomatic zones.
