Pakistan's former ISI chief, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Faiz Hamid, has been taken into custody by the country's military, and court martial proceedings have commenced against him. This information was reported by NDTV.

According to a statement from Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday, Lt-General (retd) Faiz Hamidke was arrested based on a Supreme Court order related to a land-grabbing case and violation of several army laws post-retirement.

The ISPR also mentioned that appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (retd) in accordance with the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act.

In April of this year, the military reportedly established a commission of inquiry to investigate allegations of abuse of power against the former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief.

Lt Gen (retd) Hamid led Pakistan's intelligence agency from 2019 to 2021 and was widely regarded as a highly influential figure during that time.
