A bird flu outbreak has been confirmed at a commercial poultry farm in Cornwall.
Authorities stated that all poultry on the affected farm near Rosudgeon, St Ives, will be humanely culled. In response, a 3km (1.9 mile) protection zone and a 10km (6.2 mile) surveillance zone have been established.
This marks the first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1, the dominant strain, this season. Earlier this month, the H5N5 strain was also detected at a farm in East Riding of Yorkshire.
These outbreaks come after recent cases of HPAI, including both H5N5 and H5N1, identified in wild bird populations across England.
Bird flu has circulated for over a century, with outbreaks typically peaking in autumn and subsiding by spring.
It spreads through birds' droppings and saliva, or through contaminated feed and water.
