Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported suggestion to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, calling it "unacceptable."

"Even discussing such a possibility is wrong," Fidan stated on Wednesday, reiterating Türkiye’s firm opposition to any attempt to remove Gazans from their homeland.

Trump, speaking on Tuesday, suggested that the U.S. would "take over" Gaza and implied a plan for permanently resettling Palestinians outside the enclave.

"The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will handle it as well," he declared during a press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Regarding Syria, Fidan reaffirmed that the Syrian government has no intention of implementing federalism or granting autonomy, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining the country’s territorial integrity.

He also highlighted that Syrian President al-Sharaa holds a firm stance against the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, aligning with Türkiye’s security concerns.

Fidan further stated that Syria has committed to either expelling or eliminating all PKK militants who have entered its territory from various countries to safeguard national unity.

Additionally, he announced the establishment of a joint mechanism involving Türkiye, Iraq, Syria, and Jordan to enhance cooperation in combating the Daesh terror group.
