The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has advised pilgrims to inspect their luggage before traveling to ensure they comply with regulations and avoid carrying prohibited items, thereby preventing any disruptions during their Umrah journey.
In a public notice, the ministry listed banned items such as fireworks, counterfeit currency, unregistered medications, surveillance devices, radar detectors, stun guns, laser pens, and hidden cameras. Pilgrims are encouraged to visit the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) website (ZATCA.GOV.SA) for a complete list of restricted items to ensure a smooth and hassle-free trip.
Additionally, the ministry has issued luggage guidelines for air travelers heading to the Grand Mosque, advising against non-standard baggage.
Passengers are urged to avoid unstructured or circular bags that may not fit properly in overhead compartments. Fabric luggage carriers, excessively heavy bags, oversized suitcases, and those with long straps or numerous buckles should also be avoided to ensure easier handling and transport.
The ministry further stressed the importance of verifying baggage policies with airlines before departure to prevent any travel delays.
