UAE Becomes the World's Second Safest Country

According to a survey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been ranked as the second safest country in the world in 2025. Data published by the crowd-sourced online database Numbeo indicates that the UAE, home to people from over 200 nationalities, has achieved a safety index score of 84.5. The country is widely recognized for its high standard of living and exceptional safety and security measures.

A small country situated between France and Spain, known for its ski resorts, Andorra topped the list with a safety index of 84.7, just two decimal points ahead of the UAE.

According to the Middle East-based news outlet Khaleej Times, Gulf countries outperformed both the United States and United Kingdom in terms of safety. Qatar secured the third position with a safety index of 84.2, while Oman ranked within the top five with a score of 81.7.

Saudi Arabia secured the 14th position with a safety index of 76.1, while Bahrain ranked 16th with 75.5 points. Kuwait was placed 38th with a safety index of 67.2.

In South Asia, Pakistan ranked 65th with 56.3 points, while India followed closely at 66th with 55.7 points. The Philippines ranked 63rd with 56.9 points, whereas the Himalayan nation Nepal stood at 47th place with a safety index of 63.3.

The UK ranked 87th with a safety index of 51.7, while the US was placed 89th with 50.8 points.

In the 2025 World Happiness Index, the UAE has improved its ranking, securing 21st place, surpassing the UK, US, Germany, France, Singapore, and all Arab nations.

In 2020, the UAE achieved a rare global recognition as the only country with three cities ranked among the world's top 10 safest cities, according to a global crime index.

As per Numbeo, a crowd-sourced global data website, the cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah ranked among the top 10 cities with the lowest crime rates worldwide, securing second, sixth, and seventh places, respectively, out of nearly 400 cities surveyed globally.

The UAE has also secured third place among the world’s safest countries and ranked 24th in the Quality of Life Index.
