Lawmakers Barred as Gaza Crisis Deepens
Israel canceled visas for 27 French left-wing lawmakers and officials. Israel stopped two British members of parliament from entering the country. Israel stopped two left-wing European parliament deputies, Franco-Palestinian Rima Hassan and Lynn Boylan from Ireland, from entering. Seventeen members of the group, from France's Ecologist and Communist parties, said they had been victims of "collective punishment" by Israel and called on Macron to intervene.

The Israeli military has killed at least 48,000 Palestinians in Gaza during this crisis. Israel has breached the temporary ceasefire agreement that came into effect in January. Israel has cut electricity to Gaza's main desalination plant. Amnesty International concludes Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Israel's new aid blockade leaves an even deeper humanitarian crisis. The Israeli military has been relentlessly bombing a displacement camp in Gaza's so-called 'safe zone' of al-Mawasi. Israeli bombardment of Gaza kills 92 in two days. US President Donald Trump said he would like to see Jordan, Egypt and other Arab nations increase the number of Palestinian refugees they are accepting from the Gaza Strip.
As of Sunday, April 20, 2025, reports indicate that Israeli attacks across Gaza in the preceding 48 hours had killed at least 92 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Furthermore, on Sunday alone, an additional 31 to 44 Palestinians were reported killed in continued Israeli bombardment. While a precise figure for the current week (starting Sunday) is still emerging, these recent reports tragically suggest that dozens of lives have been lost in Gaza in the early part of this week.
