West Midlands Police have confirmed the tragic death of a second man following a fatal shooting in Wolverhampton's Whitmore Reans area. Father-of-three Syed Zain Ali, 32, passed away in hospital surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, days after the initial incident. The search for murder suspect Mohammed Maneer Khan, known as Manny, continues.

A second man has tragically succumbed to his injuries following a shooting incident on Leicester Street, Whitmore Reans, in the early hours of Friday, September 19.

Syed Zain Ali, aged 32, a devoted father-of-three, was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday, September 24, after being shot alongside the first victim. The family of Mr Ali, whose origin is being queried as potentially British Bangladeshi or of Bangladeshi descent, has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.

The first victim, Duaine Mills, 28, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene last Friday. Mr Ali had been rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the attack but sadly passed away five days later.

The double fatality has intensified the manhunt for the suspected killer, 38-year-old Mohammed Maneer Khan, who is also known by the nickname Manny. West Midlands Police have released an image of Khan, who is believed to have strong links to the Wolverhampton area.

Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, from West Midlands Police's homicide team, issued a strong statement following the second death. "Tragically a second life has been lost, and we are continuing to work 24/7 to establish the full circumstances and to trace the person responsible," DI Davenport said.

"We are continuing to urge the public to assist in our ongoing efforts to bring Khan into custody. The families of both these men, Duaine and Syed, are devastated, and we remain absolutely committed to getting them the justice their loved ones deserve."

Police have increased their visible presence in the Whitmore Reans area with regular patrols to reassure the community and gather information.

West Midlands Police is urging the public to exercise caution: Anyone who sees Mohammed Maneer Khan is advised not to approach him but to call 999 immediately.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts, or who witnessed or heard anything at the time of the shooting that could aid the investigation, is asked to contact the force on 101 quoting log 358 of 19 September.
