UK Awami League to Remain Silent on Yunus-Tarique Meeting
  • UK Awami League, confirmed this lack of a program for Friday morning.

The UK Awami League has announced it will not stage any protests during the anticipated meeting between Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and Tarique Rahman, scheduled for Friday morning in London. This decision comes despite the party's widespread protest initiatives planned for all other engagements of Dr. Yunus during his visit to the UK.

While the UK Awami League has been actively organizing demonstrations and maintaining a strong presence in London to protest Dr. Yunus's other public appearances, they have opted for a different approach regarding this specific encounter. Syed Sajidur Rahman Faruk, General Secretary of the UK Awami League, confirmed this lack of a program for Friday morning.

The move marks a notable shift in the party's strategy, as they have otherwise vowed to be "on the field" with various resistance programs throughout Dr. Yunus's London tour. The meeting between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman stands out as the sole event where the UK Awami League will reportedly remain silent.

Questions Arise Over Awami League's Stance

The UK Awami League's decision not to protest this particular meeting has raised questions among many, especially given their vocal opposition to Dr. Yunus's other engagements. Despite the local general secretary stating that they will again protests when Dr. Yunus on the way to return to Bangladesh , the specific silence surrounding the Yunus-Tarique meeting has drawn attention and speculation.
