A tribute to the late Abdul Kadir: A life of service and dedication

On Monday, September 8, 2025, the Chhatak Education Trust organized a solemn memorial and discussion meeting in honor of the late Abdul Kadir, a former secretary of the Chhatak Education Trust, secretary of the Chhatak Youth Organisation, and a trustee of Dartford Mosque. The event was held at 6 PM in the Brick Lane Jame Masjid hall in East London.

The service began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by trustee Mufti Abdul Wadud Latifi. The meeting was presided over by the organization's president, Aktar Hossain, with secretary Emdad Talukdar serving as the master of ceremonies.

Speakers at the event included: Chief Advisor and Trustee Altafur Rahman Mujahid, Advisor and Trustee Nurul Islam MBE, Advisor and Trustee Ashiqur Rahman Ashiq, Advisor and Trustee MA Rauf, former Councillor Abdush Shahid, Advisor and Trustee Goyas Mia, Trustee Haji Rais Ali, Founder General Secretary and Trustee Arman Ali, former Treasurer and Trustee Master Moshahid Ali, Trustee Barrister Mahbubur Rahman Sumon, Trustee Atiqur Rahman Shoeb, Trustee Askar Ali, Trustee Mujibur Rahman Mujib, Trustee Ataur Rahman Ansar, Trustee Abdul Karim Khayer, Trustee Abdul Dayas, Trustee Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Organizing Secretary and Trustee Abu Saeed Lilu, Trustee Zainal Abedin, Trustee Faizur Rahman, Trustee Ali Ahmed, Trustee Zakir Hossain Selim, Ali Akbar Khokon, Abu Helal, Sultan Ali Pir, Abdul Hannan, Sharif Ullah, Anwar Kamal Dulal, and Muhammad Abdur Rahman Oli, along with other members of the Chhatak Education Trust.

During the discussion, speakers reflected on Abdul Kadir's exceptional organizational skills, social responsibility, dedication to his work, and the principles he lived by. They described him as a humble and selfless social worker who played a crucial role in community reform. They also highlighted his vision for a modern madrasa education system that seamlessly integrated Islamic and contemporary subjects.

Born in 1967 in the village of Burairgaon, part of the Gobindganj-Saidargaon Union in Chhatak sub-district, Abdul Kadir passed away at the age of 58. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and countless admirers.

Following the discussion, a special Milad and prayer ceremony were held at the Brick Lane Jame Masjid to pray for the departed soul of Abdul Kadir. The memorial service concluded in the mosque's hall.
