Michael Lynch, 35, of Trasna Park in Enniskillen, has been remanded in custody after appearing at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Saturday morning, charged with the murder of Limerick mother-of-four Carrie Mullane and preventing the lawful burial of a corpse. The court heard that the alleged motive for the killing centred on a dispute over Lynch’s former partner, an argument that prosecutors believe escalated fatally before Ms Mullane, 39, disappeared from the property on 10 October 2026.

Daily Dazzling Dawn understands that the PSNI launched a missing person investigation on 29 October, nearly three weeks after Ms Mullane was last seen arriving in Enniskillen from Limerick. A detective sergeant told the court she could connect Lynch to both charges, setting out a sequence of events that has left the mother-of-four unaccounted for and her family without answers.

Giving evidence, the detective sergeant stated that Lynch and Ms Mullane travelled together from Limerick, and a taxi driver later reported dropping them at the accused’s property, where Lynch helped Ms Mullane inside. When questioned by police, Lynch vehemently denied harming her. He claimed the pair had argued over his former partner before he fell asleep, implying he had been drugged. He told officers he awoke to find her gone and later received a Facebook message stating she was leaving for County Derry.

Police noted the message did not match Ms Mullane’s usual speech. The court heard she had uncharacteristically ceased contact with family, stopped collecting her benefits, and was not found at any hospitals or shelters. A welfare check at the address on 29 October failed to locate her. Daily Dazzling Dawn learned that this abrupt break in routine formed a central pillar of the prosecution’s case for denying bail.

Neighbours reported seeing Ms Mullane frequenting a camper van parked outside the house, but she had not been seen for weeks. Lynch allegedly cleared out the van on 23 October before having it towed for scrap the following day. Police later recovered a bloodstained carpet, a Converse shoe, and a bottle of cleaning fluid from the vehicle.

The officer said the carpet is believed to have come from the living room, where blood spatters matching both the victim and the accused were found on a television. Police believe Ms Mullane was fatally injured on the carpet. The court also heard allegations that Lynch drove to a jetty in darkness on 11 October to conceal evidence and Ms Mullane’s body, during hours he claimed to be unconscious.

Police recovered a phone containing multiple SIM cards, including one registered to Ms Mullane’s benefits. District Judge Michael Ranaghan refused bail due to flight risk and interference with justice, remanding Lynch in custody to appear at Enniskillen court via videolink on 30 November. Legal aid was granted. The PSNI search for Ms Mullane’s remains continues, with her whereabouts still unknown.
