Bangladeshi expatriates sent remittances worth around $193 crore (equivalent to around Tk 21,181 crore) in November, the fifth month of the current financial year 2023-24.
The amount is about $5 crore less than in October, when the country recorded remittances worth $197.75 crore, Bangladesh Bank said in its latest report on Sunday.
BSS added: With the latest addition, the year-on-year growth in receiving remittances stood at 0.24 percent for the first five months, July to November, of the ongoing fiscal year (FY24) as the country received $8,814.55 million in total during the period. Last year, it was $8,793.56 million.
Talking to BSS, a senior official of the central bank mentioned that the flow of remittances into the country shows an upward trend as the government has taken measures to streamline the legal channel for encouraging non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to send money to the country.
