More than 1 kg of gold was seized from 3 passengers of a flight from Dubai at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
These golds were seized in a joint operation of National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs on duty at the airport on Monday (April 22) morning.
Those from whom these golds have been seized are Mubarak Ali, Mohammad Nazmul Haque and Mohammad Anwar Shah. Mubarak Ali's home is in Chakaria in Cox's Bazar, Nazmul Haque's in Satkania in Chittagong and Anwar Shah's in Sandwip area. They have not yet been detained.
Shah Amanat International Airport Director Group Captain Taslim Ahmed confirmed the matter to the media.
According to Airport NSI and Customs sources, over 1 kg of gold was recovered.
The detainees were carrying this gold carefully hidden by pasting it on their clothes and wrapping it in blankets.
He said that Bangladesh Biman flight BG-148 landed at Chittagong airport from Dubai at 6:45 am. The arrested three brought more than one kg of gold in clothes and blankets. They were detained by the NSI and CIID personnel due to their suspicious movements.
The Director of Chittagong Airport also said that the arrested three persons were handed over to the police.
