Spain has officially recognized the war-torn Palestine as an independent state.

Al Jazeera reported this news in a report on Tuesday (May 28).

Spain recognizes Palestine as a state as a 'historic step towards justice and the only way to achieve peace'. The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, said this in the announcement of recognition.

The media France Twenty Four reported that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said this in a televised speech before a cabinet meeting on Tuesday (May 28). This system was officially approved through this.

Pedro said, "This is a historic decision, the sole purpose of which is to achieve peace between Israelis and Palestinians."

He also said that recognition of a Palestinian state is not only a matter of historical justice. This is now essential if we all want to achieve peace.

The Prime Minister of Spain also commented that this step is not against anyone, at least not against Israel.

According to him, this (recognition of Palestinian statehood) is the only way to move towards a solution, which we all recognize as the only possible way to achieve a peaceful future. Through this, the state of Palestine will also co-exist with Israel in peace and security.

Earlier last week, the joint announcement by the Prime Ministers of Spain, Ireland and Norway revealed their plan to recognize Palestine as a state.

Along with Spain, Ireland and Norway are also expected to officially recognize Palestine as an independent state on Tuesday.
