UAE Records Year's Highest Temperature of 49.4°C on Eid
Eid-ul-Azha day was the hottest day of the year recorded in the UAE. The temperature was 49.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center of Meteorology, the highest temperature across the country was recorded at 2:45 pm in Sowehan (Al Ain) in Abu Dhabi.
Although yesterday's temperature reached 49.4 degrees Celsius, it rained in some parts of the country.
Meanwhile, more rain is likely as summer weather sets in Today, June 17, there is a risk of rain in different parts of UAE.
In the first week of June this year, some parts of the country experienced heavy lightning and hail. Khaleej Times of the Emirates (khaleej times) reports that according to meteorologists, hailstorms are actually not uncommon during summer. This occurs when surface temperatures warm, but the upper atmosphere is still cold enough to support ice.
In August last year, the Meteorological Department recorded the hottest day of the year, with the mercury reaching 50.8 degrees Celsius at 2:45 pm in Abu Dhabi's Otaide (Al Dhafra region).
In early July 2023, the temperature crossed the 50ºC-mark for the first time in Abu Dhabi's Bada Dafas (Al Dhafra region) on July 15 and 16 with the mercury touching 50.1°C on two consecutive days.
