  • New Bangladeshi Votes in Britain's Election

The voting power of the Bangladeshi community in the UK is influenced by Here reside at least 1.6 million Bangladeshis. At least one lakh additional Bangladeshis have immigrated to the UK with work permits and care visas among them. Thus, debates are taking place regarding the destination of these Bangladeshis' votes in the July 4 national elections.

However, many Bangladeshis who recently migrated to Britain did not show much interest in the election. Many newcomers don't know that you don't have to be a citizen to exercise your right to vote in Britain. Citizens of Commonwealth countries can register to vote online by providing some required information.

As Commonwealth citizens, they have the opportunity to vote in UK national elections through online voter registration.

Speaking to at least half a hundred Bangladeshis who have recently migrated to Britain, it is known that they will put the Labor Party ahead in this election. They say when a party is in power for 14 consecutive years, the expectation of change is inevitable. In addition, there is no change in the benefits or other policies of the Conservative Party or the Labor Party regarding immigrants in the election. Pretty sure. So we have chosen the Labor Party as the target of change.

On the other hand, recently the leader of the Leaver party, Sir Kier Starmer, has come under fire from Bangladeshis with the example of sending Bangladeshi immigrants back to their own country regarding illegal immigrants. As a result, many Bangladeshis who have recently come to Britain criticize Starmer and say that if the Labor Party comes to power, it will not be good for Bangladeshis. The way he directly attacked Bangladesh before the election, it can be assumed that if he comes to power, it will not be good for the Bangladeshi diaspora.

In this regard, political analysts say that these Bangladeshis who have recently migrated to Britain can create a gap in the votes of the candidates. So the candidates are campaigning non-stop to get the votes of the newcomers. However, recently Labor Party leader Sir Starmer has come under severe criticism from his own party and the Bangladeshi community for his negative statements about Bangladesh. In his speech, the candidates of Bangladeshi origin who got the nomination of the Labor Party are in trouble.

According to analysts, the largest number of Bangladeshi expatriates in the UK live in East London. There are two constituencies in this Bengali dominated area - 'Bethanal Green and Bow' and 'Poplar and Limehouse'. These two seats are now represented by two women of Bangladeshi origin, Rushnara Ali and Afsana Begum.

Both were elected MPs on Labor Party nominations. However, after the speech of the leader of the Labor Party, the MP candidates of the Labor Party across the country are in some trouble. Other candidates are campaigning hard using Sir Starmer's negative statement about Bangladeshis. They are trying to attract new Bangladeshi voters to Britain.

As soon as the Bangladeshis coming to Britain try to be active in politics in the mainstream democratic process of Britain, the whole community will get positive results. Indians and even newly arrived Pakistanis and Sri Lankans are far ahead of Bangladeshis in the process of exercising voting rights and speeding up British politics. And we are busy sitting abroad with the politics of Bangladesh.
