The UAE passport authorities have officially announced the expiry of the Emirates passport in 10 years. According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), this new service will begin on Monday, July 8, 2024, for citizens of 21 years or older.
Significantly, the new 10-year passport service will reduce the journey of customers from two trips every 10 years, supporting the government's efforts to flow to the bureaucracy and save time for citizens.
"This is another example of how our leaders always look for ways to improve citizens' lives," said Fatima Al Balashi, a 26-year-old Emirate. "I renewed my passport at Dubai Airport in less than 30 minutes recently."
Al-law-based resident explains how the 10-year extended validity will make it easier for him and his family because he sometimes forgets to renew it. "Due to our busy schedule, we forget to renew our passports before expiry. The new validity will give us more time to renew, which will make the process easier for us."
Ahmed Khalifa, a 34-year-old Dubai-based citizen, says: "The UAE principles have a long history of implementation that makes its people's lives more convenient." He mentions that this new policy is an example of the government's efforts to make the lives of the people more convenient that the Caliph believes that the validity of the 10-year long-term will save citizens of the United Arab Emirates in the long run.
Major General Suhail Zuma al-Khalei, the director general of the authority and passport, has made it clear that the validity of 10 years is limited to citizens of 21 years or older. In contrast, a 5 -year passport will continue to be issued for people under 21.
The new 10-year-old Emirates passports will be issued through the current passports established by the established methods and distribution channels. Citizens can apply for new services, no matter what happens before their existing passport expires or all its pages are fully used.
There are several convenient options for UAE citizens to renew their new 10-year passport. Internally, they may apply through their local passport office run by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.
For emergency renewal, citizens can visit the dedicated passport office at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah Airports, which are open to 24/7 to meet any urgent need. For those who live abroad, a new 10-year passport service is available through the UAE embassies and consulates in their home country.
