Azam, Hazrat Allama Mufti MujahidUddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (Retd.)He was the privileged successor of Salafe Salehin. He was an institution, a beacon of superior thought. He was always present in the science of Hadith, science of Tafseer, science of Fiqh, science of Qirat, science of Tasawf, Dawat-Tabligh, social reform, Waj-Nesihat, teaching, writing books in Arabic, Urdu and Bengali languages ​​and serving Islam at the international level. He has had the opportunity to sit with Akabi Ulema Keram of many countries of the world including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Kuwait, Palestine, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Jordan. Ilmi discussed with the famous Muhaqqi Ulama-Mashaikhs of all those countries, and exchanged the hadiths. He is like a living legend. He had a varied experience and a great personality. He has occupied a huge place in the hearts of people from all walks of life including his murideen-muhibbeen by his actions. In particular, he was one of the elders of Sylhet's traditional religious school, Satpur Darul Hadis Kamil Madrasa. During his time the said Madrasa was especially appreciated. His tireless efforts are behind the first three divisions in the history of the madrasa. One of them was (my respected father) Shaikhul Hadis Maulana Md. Abdul Majeed (RA) and the other two are Shaikhul Hadis Maulana Md. Raich Uddin Hamjapuri (Rh.) and Maulana Imad Uddin alias Sajidur Rahman (Rh.). As a result, the contribution of Allama Dubagi Saheb behind the reputation and progress of Satpur Darul Hadis Kamil Madrasah is undeniable. He was known as 'Dubagi Chab' and 'Dubagi Huzur' among the senior scholars and youth of Bangladesh.

Allama Mufti Mujahid Uddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (Rah.)He was born on February 2, 1929 in a noble Muslim family of Dakshin Dubag village in Biyanibazar upazila of Sylhet district. His father's name is the late Md. Aptab Ali Chowdhury. Mother late Bibijan Khatun Chowdhury. Father was a pious personality. Mother was Taapsee, Abeda-Saleha Oliatullah. It was known that if he made a special prayer, Allah would accept it. Allama Dubagi Saheb. He got his primary education from his parents. He lost his noble mother in childhood. After that he was admitted to the local school. After 1 year of education at Jame Masjid near home, he was admitted to South Dubag Primary School. After 2 years of primary education there, he was admitted to Mathiura Kendra Pathshala. After 3 years of study in that institution, he was admitted by Hazrat Qari Maulana Bashir Uddin Saheb, an expert in Ilm QiraatIts Konagram is in Qariyana Madrasah. While many people take 6 to 10 years to complete the courses of the institute's classes, Allama Dubagi Saheb (RA) completed the courses very efficiently in just 3 years. After that he was admitted to Jamiul Uloom Kamil Madrasah, a traditional plantation house. In that Madrasah, his keen dhishakti developed. His unimaginable talent is revealed to everyone. He excelled in the Shastra classes of Charaf, Meezan, Munshaib, Panjganj, Nahmir, Hedayatunnahu, Meezan (Persian), Machadar, Chirazi, Faraiz etc. Then Dakhil in 1956, Alim in 1958 and Fazil Jamaat in 1960 passed the first division with great merit from the said madrasa. He was very talented and possessed of sharp knowledge. Alim got scholarship with star marks in combined merit list in madrasa education board examination. Then Kamil passed with honors in 1962 from Sylhet Government Aliya Madrasa. Kamil won the Sylhet Aliya Madrasa Qadiriya scholarship in the annual examination. While studying in Kamil's class, he performed the duties of Imam and Khatib in Sylhet Central Jame Masjid at the request of dignitaries.

Allama Dubagi Saheb (Rah.) He was a famous orator and diviner. He was fluent in Bengali, Urdu, Persian and Arabic. He had good command of English language.

Allama Mufti Mujahid Uddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (R.H.) taught in various religious seminaries during his stay in Bangladesh. He institutionally served Ilm Deen as Principal, Shaykhul Hadith and Mufti in various institutions. Notable institutions among them are Satpur Darul Hadis Kamil Madrasa, Srimangal Anwarul Uloom Fazil Madrasa, Mukimpur Senior Madrasa, Dasaura Senior Alim Madrasa (Bianibazar), Tahirpur Ittefakia Alim Madrasa (Nabiganj), Atgram Amjadia Madrasa (Jakiganj) and Mewa Kudchia Madrasa (Bianibazar). Ilm made relentless efforts to strengthen the foundations of the madrasa in the service of religion.In addition, he was able to gain the reputation of every educational institution due to his special skills and abilities in teaching.

He was well versed in bookish knowledge. When he used to give lectures, it seemed that he was more proficient in that subject. At Satpur Madrasah he taught all the difficult Kitabadi with great reputation. No matter how difficult the book was given, he would recite it in very simple and lucid language. He was incomparable in explaining even the most difficult subjects in simple terms through various examples. Even the weakest student in the class was not quick to understand his lessons. He was very patient, punctual and disciplined. He followed strict rules in every aspect of life.

Allama Dubagi Saheb (Rah.) After being appointed to Satpur Darul Hadis Kamil Madrasa, the Madrasa authorities established Darul Ifta or Fatwa Department for the first time around him and he served as the Chief Mufti. Due to his profound vision and originality in the field of fatwa giving, the reputation of fatwa department gradually spread through him. Not only that, experienced muftis from different places started sending their fatwas to Keram Dubagi Sahib for verification. In UK he was known as 'Muftiye Azam Bangladesh'.


There are numerous students of Allama Mufti Mujahid Uddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (R.H.) who have continued and continue to serve Ilme-Deen and Tariqat in the country and abroad. Allama Mujahid Uddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (R.H.) went to Britain for permanent residence on January 1, 1978 for the great purpose of promoting Deen Islam and serving the religion in knowledge. He is considered as the most senior religious scholar of the Bangladeshi community in Britain. There he first lived in the city of Leicester and was called the 'Saheb of Leicester'. He became the revered teacher of scholars of all faiths and paths. Gradually his popularity spread to the whole world. It should be noted that Allama Dubagi Saheb was the first Alim Deen of Jainpuri-Phultali ideology in UK. He was the first to establish Maslak. Later in the same year on 2nd June 1978 Shamsul Ulama Hazrat Allama Fultali Saheb Qiblah (RA) visited Britain for the first time. Dubagi Saheb along with his acquaintances and ideologues gave a grand historic welcome to Phultali Saheb (RA). He organized Waj-Nasihat Mahfils of Fultali Saheb in different parts of United Kingdom by instilling enthusiasm among the people of different communities. Besides, he made people interested in Bengali as well as English, Urdu, Hindi and Gujarati languages ​​to involve the people of different races and languages ​​in this great work. In this visit Dubagi Saheb own Pir and Murshid Allama Saheb Qiblah Fultali (RA)Along with this, he discussed the religious education of the future generation of Muslims in Britain and proposed and planned the establishment of madrasas. Fultali Saheb (RA) laid the foundation of madrasa in London during this visit. Then the name of the madrasa was Madrasa-e-Darul Qirat Majidiya. Later this madrasa was named London Darul Hadis Latifiya.

After the brutal attack on Hazrat Allama Fultali Saheb Qiblah (RA) in Syedpur in 1980, Dubaghi ​​Saheb organized a meeting in Leicester city with the rabbis of different cities of United Kingdom and established the first Anjumane Al-Islah in Bilat. In Britain, he was a policy maker of flowery spices. So because of Dubagi Saheb, Leicester was the headquarters or main center of Machlak. It was in this Leicester that Fultali Saheb first traveled and stayed. And at first there was also a plan to establish Machalki Mosque Madrasa. Later London was chosen as the establishment of city-centred mosque-madrasas was more important. Later Dubagi Saheb also moved to London.

Incidentally, in Britain then all activities of Machalak were managed through Dubagi Saheb (RA).

Hazrat Allama Dubaghi ​​Saheb (RA) was Ustazul Ulama, famous Mufti, Shaykhul Hadith, Mufassir and first class Qari of high Marg. Eminent elders who possess many qualities, including piety and austerity, are born momentarily. A personality with such rare qualities is found after many ages or centuries. It is a matter of great fortune to come in contact with any of them.

According to sources, many of his disciples were famous Muhaddis, Mufti, Mufassir and Qari of the era. Their memory is - Allama Mufti Mujahid Uddin Chowdhury Dubagi Saheb (RA) was the epitome of the Prophet of Sunnah. His imitation would undoubtedly have been imitation of the Sunnah. In fiqh, he would answer any difficult masala-masael immediately. As if he was a living fiqh book. Allama Dubaghi ​​Saheb (R.A.) possessed of scholarly knowledge in tafsir and ilm Nahu-Charaf, Faraiz and Balagat was adept at providing legal solutions to any difficult situation. His fatwas, interpretations and decisions were unanimously accepted by the ulama of all parties.

The writings of Allama Dubaghi ​​Saheb (RA) have played an important role in the service of knowledge and religion. Several manuscripts written by him are preserved as unpublished.

In Britain he engaged himself in multifaceted ministry. He was the founder and Khatib of Leicester Darus Salam Mosque. For almost four decades there, he used to preach hadiths and Islahi advices from Asr to Maghrib every day. In a very straightforward manner, his intense discussion of Qur'an, Hadith, Ijma and Qiyas would turn into a deep scholarly meeting. Islamic researchers from different countries also attended his mahfil and gained knowledge. He used to do Tafseer from the Qur'an every Sunday. Every Thursday, he used to have a regular khaneka or zikir mahfil. Apart from this, he used to train in pure Qirat as a prominent reciter of seven Qiraats. Above all, he was an almighty and unassuming saint with a pure heart. He is also the founder of London Newcross Jame Masjid and Blackburn Shah Jalal Jame Masjid. In addition, many organizations and religious institutions have been established in different cities of the United Kingdom with his direct and indirect cooperation and advice.

It is impossible to discuss the life and work of such a great personality who achieved success in every field of life and various aspects of his life in such a short space. The wonderful contribution he has made in the field of Khidmat of Ilm Deen, Ilm Shariat, Ilm Marifat and Khidme Khalq etc. deserves to be discussed in detail.

The special mercy of Allah is showered on the discussion of the biography of a saint. And Allama Dubagi Saheb (RA)Kamil was not only a saint but also a brilliant astrologer of Shariah-Marifat and a successful figure in the service of Deen Islam. He went to the presence of Mawlaye Haqiqi Rafique A'Allah to recite Surah Yasin and Kalima on the eve of Jummah on Friday 10 July 2020 at the age of 91 at the Wipcross Hospital, London, while undergoing treatment for old age. This great personality is buried in the Gardens of Peace in London. It should be noted that the Arabic date of his death coincides with that of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.H.), who is known as the Sultan of Punyabhoomi Sylhet. Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) passed away on 19 Zilqad of 740 Hijri and Allama Dubaghi ​​(R) passed away on 19 Zilqad of 1441 Hijri.

At the time of his death, he left behind his wife, 3 sons, 1 daughter, numerous murideen-muhibbeen, disciples of various classes. His great grandfather Allama Zillur Rahman Chowdhury Saheb has been working as Imam and Khatib in the traditional London Bricklane Jame Masjid for 30 years. Mejho Sahebzada Maulana Oliur Rahman Chowdhury Saheb is working as Imam and Khatib in New Cross Mosque. Chhota Chahebzada Maulana Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury Chaheb is working as a computer engineer. His successors are continuing the services left by his father with great sincerity and efficiency. He established 'Allama Dubagi Trust' at the local level in Bangladesh to serve the helpless people. May Allah Almighty accept all the services of his guardians and continue them till the Day of Resurrection. Grant him the high station of Jannatul Ferdous.
