Quota Tension at midnight most of university campuses in Bangladesh

Thousands of university students in Bangladesh have protested against the PM press conference's comment about the recruitment system, which they claim favors children of war heroes and certain groups for high-paying government jobs. The system is rigged, with government jobs sold to the highest bidders and people with powerful connections. If quotas are abolished, there is no guarantee that a talented and hard-working young graduate will get a civil service job.

The system is rigged, with students having to pay money for leaked questions or better grades in verbal tests to get a job. The students believe that the scarce jobs in the country make them willing to compete for very low-paid jobs. The economy has been growing at an average 6% a year over the past two decades, but automation has slowed down job creation in private sectors.

Meanwhile, there were allegations of assault against various leaders and workers of the ruling party at midnight in the student movement.

 The students marched in different halls after 10 pm on Sunday, citing that the agitators demanding reform of the quota system in government jobs were insulted.

Students of Rajshahi University blocked Dhaka-Rajshahi highway in front of the university main entrance over the PM’s remarks

Jagannath University female and male students also gathered at the main gate of the university at around 11:45pm protesting at the PM’s comment.

The agitating students also brought out a procession in the area at about 12:20am on Monday.
