Kuwait now allows expats without university degrees to sponsor their families if they earn at least KD800 (Dh9,600) per month, according to their work visa.

The decision was announced under Article 29 of Ministerial Resolution No. 957/2019 by Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousuf Al Sabah.
The amended policy specifically streamlines the sponsorship of spouses and children for expatriates who are already living or were born in Kuwait, as well as children born abroad who are under the age of five.

Furthermore, the Director General of the Residency Affairs General Department of the Interior Ministry has the authority to waive the income requirement in certain. 

This change, effective immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette, aims to simplify the residency process for expatriate families in Kuwait.

Residency affairs departments across various governorates have started to accept family visa applications from eligible expatriates following the new salary guidelines.
