On the occasion of August 15 , the UK Awami League has held a pre-arranged mourning meeting and gathering at the Shaheed Minar premises of Altab Ali Park in East London on Thursday afternoon local time.

There were no reports of untoward incidents, as there was a large police presence at the rally called by supporters of the student movement at the same time inside the park. 

United Kingdom Awami League President, freedom fighter Sultan Mahmud Sharif, presided over the rally, as did United Kingdom Awami League General Secretary Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq. Party President Sheikh Hasina thanked the attendees on the phone. United Kingdom Awami League Vice President, Alhaj Jalal Uddin, Hormuz Ali, Joint General Secretary, Naeem Uddin Riaz, Maruf Ahmed Chowdhury, Organisational Secretary, Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, Jamal Ahmed Khan, and others spoke at the rally. 

On the other hand, saiful islam miraz, Imtiyaz enam tanim, shibbir ahmed,Abul Kalam Azad, Mujibur Rahman Mujib, Parvez Mallik, Nasir Ahmed Shaheen, Khasruzzaman Khasru, Maudud Ahmad, Rahim Uddin, and others gave speeches in the gathering of supporters of the anti-discrimination student movement.
