50 thousand Bangladeshis Granted General Amnesty in the UAE

December 05, 2024

From January to December this year, 50,000 Bangladeshis have taken advantage of the general amnesty offered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Those who have not yet availed themselves of this opportunity are being urged to do so.

During a weekly briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (December 5), Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Director General of the Public Diplomacy Division, shared this information.

He stated that the UAE government has been offering general amnesty to Bangladeshi expatriates in the country from January to December this year.

So far, 50,000 Bangladeshis have benefited from this amnesty. The Director General urged those who have not yet taken advantage of it to do so promptly.

When asked about the resumption of UAE visas for Bangladeshis, he said that the UAE frequently revises its visa policies, and it is entirely their jurisdiction.

The UAE implemented changes to its visa policy for Bangladeshis before July, and it appears that the policies have become stricter since then.

Although the UAE government has not officially announced any restrictions or tightening of visa controls, the categories where Bangladeshis face difficulties in obtaining visas have been raised with UAE authorities. According to Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, the UAE has assured that they will review and consider the matter.
