Last month, 158 Saudi Arabian personnel from different ministries were arrested on corruption-related allegations, according to the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha).
The individuals, who were detained as part of ongoing investigations into bribery and abuse of office, included personnel from several key government departments, including the Ministries of Interior, Defence, National Guard, Justice, Health, Education, Commerce, and Municipalities and Housing.
While some of the arrested employees were released on bail, the authority has stressed its commitment to cracking down on corruption in public institutions.
Nazaha reported conducting 1,076 inspection tours in January alone, which led to investigations into 396 suspects. The inspections resulted in the initiation of both administrative and criminal cases against those under investigation.
The move is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing effort to strengthen transparency and accountability within its ministries, addressing long-standing concerns over corruption in the public sector.
