Over 100 rental e-bikes blocking pavements and roads have been seized by a local authority.

The City of London Corporation confirmed the e-bikes were placed in a secure location during a two-week enforcement operation.

Rental companies could retrieve their e-bikes after paying a fee to cover removal and storage costs.

Despite existing agreements with rental operators regarding parking, the corporation launched the crackdown in response to numerous complaints about e-bikes being left in inappropriate spots.

Officials have committed to adding 300 more designated e-bike parking spaces in the City of London, while operators Lime and Forest have pledged to enhance their services.

Shravan Joshi, chair of the corporation’s planning and transportation committee, acknowledged the ongoing issue of bikes cluttering pavements and emphasized the need for meaningful improvements from rental companies.
