Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s social media was overwhelmed with messages of solidarity from world leaders, including U.S. officials, after a tense Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump on Friday. During the encounter, Trump reportedly mocked Zelensky’s black sweater and pants—similar to Elon Musk’s recent Oval Office attire—and warned him that Ukraine was in “big trouble” before the discussion escalated into a heated argument and was cut short.

Following the meeting, Trump took to Truth Social to accuse Zelensky of “disrespecting the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office.”

Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney swiftly responded on X, denouncing Trump and Senator J.D. Vance for pressuring Zelensky to compromise Ukraine’s sovereignty. She emphasized that history would remember the moment when an American president and vice president abandoned the values the U.S. has long stood for.

Support for Zelensky poured in from leaders across Europe and North America, including those from France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Canada, Croatia, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Portugal. Many framed their support as part of a broader defense of democracy and stability in Europe.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reaffirmed that Ukraine’s battle against Russia’s invasion is a fight for democracy, freedom, and sovereignty. Romania’s acting president, Ilie Bolojan, stressed that Ukraine’s security is crucial for Europe’s stability, while Estonia’s Prime Minister Kristen Michal pledged unwavering support for Ukraine’s fight for freedom.

Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar condemned the events in the Oval Office, stating they undermined international law and diplomacy, while Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever declared that Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression is a shared fight. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof reiterated the Netherlands’ steadfast backing of Ukraine, emphasizing the need for lasting peace.

Robert Metsola, president of the European Parliament, wrote: “Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelensky.
