A man who kidnapped and brutally assaulted another man, stealing around £77,000, has been sentenced to more than eight years in a young offender’s institution.
Cadnaan Ali, 19, of Overton Road, London, traveled to Luton with the victim, who had recently received a significant financial settlement following an accident. Upon arrival, two other men joined them in the car, launching a violent attack on the victim as part of a premeditated plan to extort his money.
For the next four days, Ali and his accomplices held the victim captive at various addresses in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and London. The perpetrators forced the victim to transfer large sums of money into different accounts while subjecting him to repeated beatings.
Despite the harrowing ordeal, the victim managed to escape and alert the authorities. However, Ali continued to harass and threaten him, warning him against identifying his captors to the police.
Following a thorough investigation, Ali was convicted of multiple charges, including kidnap, actual bodily harm, two counts of theft, and two counts of perverting the course of justice. He was sentenced to eight years and two months in custody.
Detectives involved in the case commended the victim for his bravery in coming forward and providing crucial evidence against his attackers.
A spokesperson for the police stated, “We hope this sentence sends a clear message about our commitment to doing everything in our power to bring criminals like this to justice.”
Authorities are continuing efforts to identify and apprehend the two other suspects involved in the crime.
