  • Thousands of passengers face delays as services remain suspended into the afternoon.

All Eurostar trains between London and Paris have been cancelled following the discovery of an unexploded Second World War bomb near the railway tracks.

Thousands of travelers are experiencing major disruptions as the cross-Channel operator suspended 10 services on Friday morning.

Departures from Paris to London are halted until at least midday, with images from Gare du Nord showing long queues of stranded passengers.

In a statement, Eurostar said: "Due to an object found on the tracks near Paris Gare du Nord, we anticipate service disruptions this morning."

"Please change your journey for a different date of travel."

At the police's request, Gare du Nord services will be suspended until mid-morning, according to France's national train operator, SNCF.

"We invite travellers to postpone their trip," it said in a statement.

Additionally, trains from Gare du Nord, a significant European transportation centre, have been stopped heading to northern France.

Bombs from the First and Second World Wars are frequently found in the vicinity of France, but they are quite uncommon in such a highly populated region.
