At least 12 people were injured in a shooting at a pub in east Toronto on Friday night, with the suspect still at large hours after the incident. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.
Toronto police informed Sky News that the suspect, who was wearing a black balaclava, was last seen fleeing in a silver car. Paramedics described the crime scene near Scarborough Town Centre Mall as a "dynamic situation," with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
While four victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the conditions of the others were not immediately available. Several of the wounded were transported to a trauma center for treatment. Officials have not disclosed details regarding the ages or genders of the victims.
Toronto Fire Services told CBC News that emergency crews responded to reports of gunfire and an active shooter. However, authorities have yet to release information on what may have led to the violence.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow stated that she had spoken with Police Chief Myron Demkiw, who assured her that "all necessary resources" had been deployed.
"This is an early and ongoing investigation—police will provide further details," she wrote on social media. "My thoughts are with the victims and their families."
