The foreign ministers of the UK, France, Italy, and Germany have expressed their support for the Arab League’s initiative to rebuild Gaza.

In a joint statement, the four nations welcomed the Arab League’s Recovery and Reconstruction Plan for Gaza, highlighting its practical approach to addressing the region’s devastation. The ministers stated that if implemented effectively, the plan could lead to lasting improvements in the difficult living conditions faced by Palestinians.

They stressed that any reconstruction efforts must be supported by a strong political and security framework that is acceptable to both Israelis and Palestinians, ensuring long-term stability and peace for both sides.

The statement also reinforced the importance of the Palestinian Authority’s leadership in the reconstruction process and backed its ongoing reform efforts.

Earlier in the week, an emergency Arab summit in Cairo endorsed Egypt’s $53 billion reconstruction plan, which aims to rebuild Gaza without forcing Palestinians from their homes. This initiative was put forward as an alternative to a controversial proposal by former US President Donald Trump, which suggested relocating Palestinians and transforming Gaza into a luxury coastal destination dubbed the "Riviera of the Middle East." The Arab world and many other nations strongly rejected Trump’s plan, condemning it as a form of ethnic cleansing.
