UK, France, Germany urge Gaza ceasefire

The governments of Germany, France, and Britain issued a joint statement on Friday, urging an immediate return to a ceasefire in Gaza. They also called on Israel to reinstate humanitarian access, including the provision of water, electricity, medical care, and temporary medical evacuations, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Expressing their dismay over civilian casualties, the foreign ministers of the three nations, known as the E3, also urged Palestinian Hamas militants to release Israeli hostages.

The ministers emphasized that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict could not be resolved through military action and stressed that a lasting ceasefire was the only viable path to peace.

Additionally, they expressed their deep concern over an incident involving the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) building in Gaza and called for a thorough investigation.
