Two media workers, including an Al Jazeera journalist, have been killed in separate Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Hossam Shabat, a journalist for Al Jazeera Mubasher, was killed on Monday in northern Gaza. Witnesses reported that his car was struck in the eastern area of Beit Lahiya.

Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, shared that Shabat, 23, had been previously injured in an earlier Israeli attack but chose to continue reporting in Gaza.

Abu Azzoum stated that the Israeli military targeted Shabat's vehicle without any prior warning.

Shabat’s colleagues have revealed his final words.

In a post on X, prewritten by Shabat, he wrote, “If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed — most likely targeted — by the Israeli occupation forces.”

Shabat wrote that over the last 18 months of war, he has dedicated “every moment” to his people.

Earlier on Monday, an Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis in southern Gaza also claimed the life of journalist Mohammad Mansour, who worked for Palestine Today.

Abu Azzoum reported that Mansour was killed "in his home... along with his wife and son" in an attack that, like the one on Shabat, occurred without any prior warning.
