Health Improves Amidst Return Plans
In a poignant reunion, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia, celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with her family in London, marking the first time in ten years they have shared this festive occasion. The gathering, a source of immense joy for the family, brought together Zia, her son Tarique Rahman, his family, and the family of her late son, Arafat Rahman Koko. The British Bangladeshi community wants to know about Khaleda Zia's health update; people are also curious about this family.
Prior to this, in September 2015, after approximately eight years, she celebrated Eid with her family members. Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and Dr. Zubaida Rahman exchanged Eid greetings at the Eid greeting exchange ceremony organized by the United Kingdom BNP in London on September 25, 2015. Then, in 2017, Khaleda Zia celebrated Eid-ul-Azha in London.
Nasrullah Khan, a former senate member of Dhaka University and founder of the London School of Commerce and IT in London, told Daily Dazzling Dawn that Begum Khaleda Zia has been able to spend Eid with her family only three times, including this occasion, in the last 18 years. This has been possible due to her travel to London for treatment.
In response to the question of whether UK BNP will exchange Eid greetings with Khaleda Zia or Tarique Rahman, UK BNP president MA Malek told Daily Dazzling Dawn that they are not getting a large hall at the last moment. If they can arrange the hall, the matter will be final.
Dr. AZM Zahid Hussain, Zia's physician, confirmed to reporters that her health has shown positive signs of improvement. "Madam's condition is better than before," he stated, offering a glimmer of hope to her supporters and family.
Adding to the anticipation is Zia’s expressed desire to return to Bangladesh after Eid. Sources close to the family, speaking exclusively to the Daily Dazzling Dawn, revealed that preparations for her return are underway, albeit with logistical complexities.
"An air ambulance will be necessary for her safe return, given her current health condition," a source disclosed. The requirement underscores the delicate nature of Zia's health and the need for specialized medical transport.
Recalling past assistance, the source mentioned, "Previously, the Qatar government generously provided an air ambulance for her medical transportation." There are indications that the Qatar government may once again step forward to assist in her return, should the need arise. "We are hopeful they will extend their support again," the source added.
The reunion and the prospect of Zia's return have ignited a wave of emotions among her supporters and political circles in Bangladesh. The Eid celebration, a symbol of family unity, has become intertwined with the larger narrative of her political legacy and her enduring presence in Bangladeshi politics. As the family navigates the logistics of her return, the nation watches with anticipation, hoping for her safe journey back home.
