A tragic accident occurred near Boca Raton Airport in Florida when a small plane crashed into a car, resulting in three fatalities and one injury.
The aircraft, a six-seat Cessna 310R carrying three people, was scheduled to depart at 10:00 a.m. and arrive in Tallahassee by 1:02 p.m. However, shortly after takeoff, the plane began circling the area for about 20 minutes, apparently attempting to return to the airport. According to data from Flightradar24, the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. after the pilot reportedly experienced mechanical problems.
Boca Raton Fire Rescue confirmed that all three individuals on board the plane died. One person on the ground sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses and local officials reported that the plane struck a car, pushing it onto nearby train tracks. Video footage showed thick smoke rising from multiple fires along the highway, which is bordered by palm trees.
Due to the crash, Boca Raton Police closed N Military Trail between NW 19th Street and Butts Road. The I-95 overpass was also affected, and authorities urged people to steer clear of the area.
This tragic event came just hours after another fatal air incident in which a Spanish family of five died in a helicopter crash during a sightseeing tour over New York City. The helicopter crashed into the Hudson River while celebrating a child’s birthday. The 36-year-old pilot also perished and has yet to be identified.
