A major fire has broken out at an electrical substation in west London, with around 100 firefighters battling the blaze on Aberdeen Place in Maida Vale, where an electrical transformer caught fire.

The London Fire Brigade reported that the roof of a nearby residential building was also on fire. They received over 170 emergency calls starting around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Fifteen fire engines were dispatched to the scene, with crews from Paddington, Euston, and surrounding stations responding to the incident.

Station Commander Paul Morgan described the blaze as highly visible and generating significant smoke, urging residents to keep their windows and doors closed and to avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

This incident follows a similar event just a month ago, when a fire at a different electrical substation near Heathrow Airport led to its temporary closure, causing over 1,000 flight cancellations and impacting hundreds of thousands of travelers. The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that fire was not being treated as suspicious.
