In a post on his Truth Social site, US President Donald Trump says India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire”.

There was no immediate comment from India or Pakistan.

Here’s what Trump wrote in full: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.

“Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Earlier on Saturday, India and Pakistan exchanged attacks on each other’s military installations, as Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan Marsoos” in retaliation for Indian airstrikes that hit three of its airbases. Both nations claimed to have intercepted the majority of incoming missiles, though they acknowledged that some caused damage.

Since India initiated “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday—targeting what it described as terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir—more than 60 people have reportedly been killed. Pakistan has confirmed 13 deaths on its side of the Line of Control (LoC), the unofficial boundary dividing the contested Kashmir region.

The military exchanges have heightened concerns about a broader conflict between the two nuclear-armed rivals. Although past disputes have sometimes been defused through international mediation, it remains uncertain whether the latest ceasefire will hold and if tensions will ease in the coming days.
