Flights between London and key Middle Eastern destinations—Dubai and Doha—have been disrupted following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
A British Airways flight (BA109) from London Heathrow to Dubai was forced to divert to Zurich late Saturday night. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner departed at 9:53pm and changed course over Saudi Arabia before landing in Switzerland, according to Flightradar24.
In response to the escalating situation, British Airways has suspended all flights to and from Dubai and Doha scheduled to depart from Heathrow on Sunday, including return legs.
Israel, reacting to Iran’s retaliatory missile strikes, also announced the closure of its airspace to all incoming and outgoing flights.
British Airways released a statement confirming that flight schedules have been adjusted due to the developing events, stressing that passenger and crew safety remains the top priority. The airline is contacting affected customers with available options.
A flexible rebooking policy is being offered for passengers with flights to Dubai and Doha between Sunday and Tuesday who wish to reschedule.
Meanwhile, Gatwick Airport reports that flights to and from Doha and Dubai are still operating as planned.
