UK-Bangla Press Club Elects New Leadership in Biennial Vote

The UK-Bangla Press Club, the representative organization for professional Bangladeshi journalists in the United Kingdom, has successfully completed its biennial elections to form a new executive committee. In a direct vote by club members for the 2025-2027 term, Reza Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury Shoeb, former Managing Director of Channel I Europe and Executive Editor of IP TV Channel Europe, was elected as President. Arif Al Mahfuz, UK correspondent for Daily Manabzamin and Ekattor TV, was elected General Secretary. Mahbubul Karim Suyed, a representative of Daily Dazzling Dawn, was re-elected Treasurer.

The elections, held on Tuesday, July 29th, saw K.M. Abu Taher Chowdhury, Chief Advisor and former President of the club, serve as the Election Commissioner.

Shamsur Rahman Sumel (Channel Europe),Office and Publicity Secretary: Muslim Khan (Shobuj Bangla),Social Welfare Secretary: Asadul Haque (MS TV), Women's Affairs Secretary: Syeda Ishrat Nasima Queen (Freelance)

Executive Members: Asaduzzaman Tanvir (Freelancer), Mohammad Ali (Moulvibazar Today), Mosahid Ali (Bangla Sanglap), Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Mostofa (Freelancer), Abdul Basit Chowdhury (Freelancer), Azizul Ambiya (Bhorer Kagoj), Shahed Shafique (Ekusey TV), Ashfaq Juned (Desh Rupantor), Tanvir Anjum Arif (NTV Europe).

The leaders of the newly formed executive committee of the UK-Bangla Press Club emphasized their commitment to upholding journalistic standards through creative work. They stated that professional journalism is paramount and that the role of journalists is to highlight all aspects of society, including its virtues and vices, problems and potentials. The UK-Bangla Press Club will consistently work for the welfare of the Bangladeshi community in the UK and contribute to the public good in Bangladesh. Furthermore, the club pledges to work tirelessly to protect the interests of all journalists both abroad and at home.
