Tributes to 'beautiful' mum found dead in street as man quizzed on suspicion of murder

Tributes have been flooding in for a mother who tragically died in a street near Halifax, as police continue to question a man on suspicion of her murder.

Paris Kendall, 36, was found with severe head injuries in Illingworth, West Yorkshire, on Wednesday, August 13, and was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics’ efforts. Officers were called to Keighley Road at around 1:33pm, and West Yorkshire Police immediately launched a murder investigation.

Since her identity became public, hundreds of heartfelt tributes, accompanied by photos of the “beautiful girl,” have been shared online, according to Yorkshire Live. Friends and family members remembered Paris with love and grief.

Sherriden Clarke wrote: “Rest Easy Paris. Sending love to all the family and her children.” Andrea Rhodes added: “Sleep tight beautiful Paris, forever in our hearts. I’ll cherish our memories together.”

Others shared equally emotional messages. Gemma Louise Tate wrote: “Fly high Paris, you are with your mum now.” Jessie-Leigh Kendall posted: “Our Paris – no words at all, my beautiful big cousin. Rest in peace.” Rosyln Blundell said: “Such a beautiful girl, my heart goes out to all her family.” Dallas Paige Mitchell described her as “my beautiful cousin, more like a sister. My heart hurts.” Helen Cormack remembered her as “a beautiful person, inside and out.”

A 40-year-old man from Halifax has been arrested and remains in custody on suspicion of murder. Police confirmed no other suspects are being sought.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a woman’s body on Keighley Road, Illingworth, on Wednesday, August 13. The victim, a 36-year-old local woman, was found unconscious with serious head injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Following enquiries, a 40-year-old man was arrested at an address in Halifax and remains in custody.”

Detective Chief Inspector Tom Levitt, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We continue to hold a man in custody on suspicion of murder as our investigation progresses. Incidents like this cause understandable shock in the community, and officers are conducting reassurance patrols and engaging with local partners. We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this case and continue to support the victim’s family.”
