Uganda’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, has launched a strong appeal to global financiers, urging them to capitalize on the vast and expanding economic landscape of Uganda. The call was the focal point of a high-level Investor Roundtable held in London on 2 October 2025.
The exclusive event, which convened a substantial gathering of major business groups, international investors, and diplomatic figures, was hosted at the prestigious Marlborough House, Pall Mall. It was a collaborative effort between the Uganda High Commission in London, led by High Commissioner H.E. Mrs. Nimisha Jayant Madhvani, and the Eastern Africa Association.
In her key address, Prime Minister Nabbanja meticulously detailed the nation's key advantages, presenting Uganda as "one of East Africa’s most promising markets." She specifically highlighted the country’s political stability, large and youthful workforce, and abundant natural resources as compelling reasons for foreign direct investment.
Discussions during the roundtable focused on several high-potential growth sectors earmarked for expansion, including agribusiness, renewable energy, critical infrastructure development, and digital innovation.
The proceedings were expertly chaired by Lord Valentine Cecil, Chairman of the Eastern Africa Association. The debate featured influential contributions from a number of business leaders and strategists, including Anand Kapoor, Vice Chairman of Lato Milk; Misbah Chowdhury, Global Trade Strategist from Bangladesh; and John Pius, a key figure in UK–Europe trade and investment networks.
High Commissioner Madhvani, in her welcoming remarks, underscored Uganda’s commitment to fostering robust investor partnerships and ensuring long-term trade growth. She emphasized the nation's dedication to creating a favorable environment for foreign capital.
The event, which aims to strengthen economic ties between Uganda and the international business community, concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Miriam Pheona Otengo, Counsellor at the Uganda High Commission, who lauded the successful collaboration between Uganda and its international partners.
