Donald Trump's Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire has been vandalized by activists in response to his administration’s stance on Gaza. The attack took place overnight, with the phrase "Gaza Is Not For Sale" spray-painted in three-meter-high letters on the golf course. Activists also caused damage to the greens, including one of the most renowned holes, which has been used in Open Championships. Additionally, the resort’s exclusive clubhouse was defaced with red spray paint on Friday night.
The group Palestine Action claimed responsibility, describing the act as a direct response to the US administration’s recent policies and statements on Gaza. The activists accused Trump of treating the region as his personal property and criticized his comments regarding its future.
Trump has made several controversial remarks about Gaza, including a statement about “cleaning out the whole thing.” Last week, he shared an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform, depicting himself and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shirtless and celebrating at a fictional "Trump Gaza" resort. The video, which included a gold balloon in the shape of Trump’s head, was intended as satire, comparing the Las Vegas Strip to the Gaza Strip. However, concerns arose that the video could be offensive or inflammatory.
Trump also addressed Gaza’s population directly on his platform, writing: “To the People of Gaza: A beautiful future awaits, but not if you hold hostages. If you do, you are dead.” Meanwhile, his administration recently approved a shipment of 40,000 bombs to Israel.
A spokesperson from Palestine Action condemned Trump's stance, stating: “Donald Trump treats Gaza as though it is his to dispose of. We are making it clear that his own property is not immune to acts of resistance. We will continue taking action against US-Israeli colonialism in Palestine.”
Police Scotland confirmed the incident, stating that officers received a report around 4:40 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, regarding damage to the golf course and a premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry. Authorities have launched an investigation and urged anyone with relevant information to contact them, quoting reference 0636 of March 8, 2025.
