In an effort to alleviate its severe labor crisis, Germany launched the Opportunity Card, a new type of visa.

Without a job, competent workers from non-EU nations will be able to immigrate to Germany using the opportunity card.

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, the program, officially known as the Chancenkarte in German, came into force.

Opportunities for Kenyans

The German Embassy in Nairobi shares tips for Kenyans on how they can take advantage of the Opportunity Card to move and work in Germany.

In the video shared on the Embassy's social media page, two colleagues, Alicia and Pius, said that they had received many questions about the opportunity card.

In the grading system, individuals will receive points for English and German languages, years of experience and the demand for their skills in Germany.

Notably, the application requires one to provide proof that they will be able to sustain their stay in Germany during the period they will be looking for work.
Govt to get jobs for Kenyans in Germany

Prime and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi noted that the bilateral agreement with Germany will be due in September 2024.

Addressing the Senate plenary seating on Wednesday, July 10, Mudavadi said the agreement will see more than 200,000 Kenyans secure jobs in the European nation.
